Environment

For organisations wishing to include environmental considerations in their project proposals, I offer consultancy support or training courses, which draw on 25 years’ practical experience with environmental regeneration and environmental education projects.

Since the early 1980s I have been involved with the design and implementation of projects that mainstream environmental resilience, primarily in India.

Specifically these projects have included the following components:

  • Watershed and water harvesting
  • Organic farming and agroforestry
  • Medicinal plant conservation
  • Kitchen and medicinal herb gardening
  • Planting of trees for shade and awareness
  • Waste water management
  • Environmental education

Case studies

At a later date I will upload case studies on two projects part-funded by DFID and the EC, which I have tracked over a long period of time:

Case study 1: Rehabilitation of degraded farmland (previously indigenous forest) at Doeguling Tibetan Settlement, Karnataka, India

Case study 2: The restoration of the Tropical Dry Evergreen Forest (TDEF) of the Coromandel Coast, Tamil Nadu, India

A further initiative central to the environmental work I have been engaged with is environmental education, which became an integral part of the later stages of the TDEF project also referred to on the environmental regeneration page.

BUILDING RESILIENCE
In communities suffering environmental degradation the greatest potential for positive environmental impact is through working with children and their communities.
